Frequently Asked Questions
1. After graduating from the program, how long does it take to get certified?
Each person’s schedule is unique. You’ll take the SSW test on a timeline defined by your group, typically a couple of weeks after graduation. The NPCP exam will be scheduled on your own time (and dollar) once you’ve completed your 100 required teaching hours.
2. Can I begin teaching right away?
Yes. Once you receive your Summer Street Wellness (SSW) certification, you can technically begin teaching. That said, your certification will carry more weight once you’ve also passed the NPCP exam.
3. Can I be paid to teach without the NPCP certification?
Yes. You can be paid to teach after passing the SSW exam, even without NPCP certification. However, each studio sets its own hiring standards—some don’t focus much on where you’re certified, while others are more particular.
